Jesus expressed His purpose for coming to this earth. We often hear people’s explanation being that He came to save the world. Fortunately, I believe both statements are true. The first statement is true, because Jesus said it. The second statement is true, because as the ‘truth’ is spoken about the love of God and about His salvation, people believe and are saved. The idea of ‘truth’ has another powerful impact though. It tells us to consult with God and His Word anytime we want to know the ‘truth’ about something, because just as He is Truth, and He speaks of ‘truth’ so shall we too have access to perfect, unadulterated, unbiased truth. Let us look at God and His Word as the plumbline against which we look to test everything else in this world.
So Pilate asked him, “Are you a king, then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. I was born and came into the world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me.”
