Give God the Glory

In our Scripture today we are reminded that God is still in control; that His ways are far greater than anything we could imagine; and although He owes us nothing, He still loves us with an unconditional love and will do whatever it takes to see us through our circumstances and events of this life that seem so impossible to us. Hard to imagine? I believe it was for Paul also, and therefore the reason he told us to just give God the glory forever! A good reminder for us to meditate on, especially when times seem to be at the most challenging – ever.

BIBLE REFERENCE: Romans 11:33-36
TRANSLATION: The Voice (VOICE)

BIBLE TEXT: 33 We cannot wrap our minds around God’s wisdom and knowledge! Its depths can never be measured! We cannot understand His judgments or explain the mysterious ways that He works! For, 34 Who can fathom the mind of the Lord? Or who can claim to be His advisor?[g] 35 Or, Who can give to God in advance so that God must pay him back?[h] 36 For all that exists originates in Him, comes through Him, and is moving toward Him; so give Him the glory forever. Amen.

OBSERVATION: In our Scripture today we are reminded that God is still in control; that His ways are far greater than anything we could imagine; and although He owes us nothing, He still loves us with an unconditional love and will do whatever it takes to see us through our circumstances and events of this life that seem so impossible to us. Hard to imagine? I believe it was for Paul also, and therefore the reason he told us to just give God the glory forever! A good reminder for us to meditate on, especially when times seem to be at the most challenging – ever.

APPLICATION: We can hear story after story about how challenging the times are in which we are now living. In fact, these are unprecedented times and even Christians are standing back in question about when things will return to ‘normal’, or when God will show forth His power. Friends, I trust that you will really take time to read our focal verses carefully today, and allow God to speak to you about how much He is in control of everything – yes even our trying times with Covid 19. I find it fascinating how God is still showing His powerful works through our weather patterns (floods, tornadoes, cold fronts, etc); how He is really speaking to the hearts of His people, especially now while they have time to listen; how this awful virus has no regard for the color of our skin or the value of our net worth, or the positional status of the individual (prime ministers, movie stars, pastors, military, etc). This is a time where those of us willing to open our eyes and truly observe, we may find where it seems like this a precursor to the return of Christ to take His bride home to glory – for the streets are empty, the business places are closed, governments of the world are in a panic, doctors don’t have the right medicine for the virus, loved ones are taken away and some remain with empty hearts, those alive can’t even bury their dead loved ones, and there really only seems to be One with the answers – the God who always was, always is and always shall be. So if you are like me and recognize all these interesting facts and have come to the realization of the awesome power of our God, how are you dealing with it? For the unbeliever, perhaps you have enough questions in your mind that you are finally recognizing that the God who created you, the God who keeps the earth spinning on its axis every day, the God who gives you breath to get out of bed each morning, He is the God who will also face you with some very challenging questions one day when you stand accountable before Him. Please allow me to share with you, based on the Word of God, that there will be no trial where you could offer your excuses, for my God already knows every little detail about you. So you will merely stand before Him for your verdict – Heaven, or Hell. No doubt you know the answer to that already, for God will only allow into Heaven those who have asked His Son, Jesus, into their hearts as Lord and ruler of your life. That’s it! No credit for good behavior or for what you gave to the poor, for we are told over and over in the Bible that there is only one way. Let me encourage you to seriously consider this during this down time where you are not overwhelmed with the cares of this life. I would love to have you standing next to me at the feet of Jesus, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t get you in. Only you can accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, for yourself. Please consider doing this today my friend. Contact me if you would like for me to pray with you, or in any way help you with this decision.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your daily intervention in our lives. Normally we will recognize this when we are on top of the clouds with extreme joy, success and happiness. However, through our challenging times You also help us to recognize Your power and Your authority over everything that exists. Please speak to the hearts of each one today, especially those who have struggled with recognizing and accepting You as Lord. May this be a day of decision for many, as we see Your hand at work in our lives and in our communities as we struggle to survive through the anxieties of today’s challenge with this pandemic. You are always there, always available and always reaching out to receive all who will call on Your name. May we do our part today, is my humble, but urgent plea. AMEN!

Never To Be Condemned

Most of us would prefer to never be condemned for something that we did. Perhaps we are a bunch of ‘crowd pleasers’! However, only those looking for trouble would deliberately do something that they know will lead to condemnation, or that they would be punished for. In our Scripture today, Jesus encourages us to place our faith and trust in Him, because then we would virtually step out of death, or a life filled with sin and destruction, into a life controlled and led by Him, that is a glorious eternal life that will one day result in meeting Jesus face-to-face, where we will worship He and the Father for ever! Meditate with me on this wonderful promise!

Bible Reference: John 5:24
Translation: The Passion Translation (TPT)

Bible Text: 24 “I speak to you an eternal truth: if you embrace my message and believe in the One who sent me, you will never face condemnation, for in me, you have already passed from the realm of death into the realm of eternal life!”

OBSERVATION: Most of us would prefer to never be condemned for something that we did. But we are a bunch of ‘crowd pleasers’ and easily lean to follow the ways of this world!

APPLICATION: If I had a secret that I could share with you about something that will make you feel your best instantly, you probably would go to great extremes to implement whatever I told you! I recently had a doctor give me a shot, and he told me that it might give relief for up to 6 months, so I jumped to the thought of being pain-free for that long. But how often do we hear that someone has a permanent fix for all of our problems, both in this world and the next? Well, we have found such an eternal promise today in our Scripture verse, for Jesus promised us something that only He could fulfill. If you are one that might be having the time of your life, and you have no one in your family who are hurting or terribly sick at this time, then you might not see value in this promise. But I believe that finding someone like that might be very rare. Friends, we were created by God for the purpose of worshiping Him and lifting up His name here on earth. And that would be heaven on earth, had He had not given us free will, and a choice to do whatever we choose to do. For Satan is still roaming free on planet earth, and he also is looking for followers and attracting worshipers of his own. Because we are born with a sinful nature, many have chosen to continue following Satan, without much thought to where they will spend eternity. Fortunately some have heard the call of Christ on their life, and many of them have chosen to share that good news with others, much like I try to do through Nuggets From God’s Word. My message to all those reading this devotional today is that my loving Savior loves you and He cared enough about you that He made an unheard-of sacrifice just for you, so that if you would humble yourself and accept that gift, you will never face condemnation for your sin. And because there is no order of superiority in His kingdom, you would become His child whom He would welcome and love in exactly the same way as He does for the best pastor, priest, preacher or evangelist you could think of. This might sound extremely hard to believe or understand dear friend, so let me encourage you to get with a Bible believing pastor, or a trusted Christian who might help you with any questions you might have about this. Of course, I would be elated in having the privilege of praying for you, or with you, or both. Fell free to reach out to me via email. But now that you know the Truth, don’t throw it out with the trash, but act on it and be comforted in this wonderful promise. Only you could make it a reality!

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for loving my friends and I enough that You gave everything to show us how much You cared. Please soften our hearts so that we might humble ourselves and pray, and that we might surrender ourselves to Your perfect will for our lives. There is no one else like You, precious Lord! Please forgive us of our sin, and draw us unto Yourself, oh Lord. We want to be where You are, and we want to worship the One who cares and loves us unconditionally. We long for the day to be in Your presence, but please make us usable vessels for You while we remain on planet earth. AMEN!

The One Who Knows You Intimately

In life we often say ‘If you want to really know me, come live with me’. To Nathanael’s surprise, he was innocently invited to come and meet a man from Nazareth, who was talked about by ancient prophets. I am convinced that Nathanael agreed to go with Phillip against his best judgment, because everything was just not adding up to him. But there was truly a divine appointment for Nathanael. Let me encourage you to also be open to a divine appointment that God might have for you today….

From:

John 1:46-49 (ERV)

Text:

46 But Nathanael said to Philip, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from Nazareth?”

Philip answered, “Come and see.”

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said, “This man coming is a true Israelite, one you can trust.”

48 Nathanael asked, “How do you know me?”

Jesus answered, “I saw you when you were under the fig tree, before Philip told you about me.”

49 Then Nathanael said, “Teacher, you are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel.”

OBSERVATION:
In life we often say ‘If you want to really know me, come live with me’. To Nathanael’s surprise, he was innocently invited to come and meet a man from Nazareth, who was talked about by ancient prophets. I am convinced that Nathanael agreed to go with Phillip against his best judgment, because everything was just not adding up to him. But there was truly a divine appointment for Nathanael. Let me encourage you to also be open to a divine appointment that God might have for you today….
APPLICATION:
This story is yet another example of how Jesus knew more about the individual than they ever thought possible. When Jesus met the woman at the well, He was able to tell her about her past relationships. When Jesus met Nathanael, He told him where he was at when Philip first approached him. I believe He could have also told him about how prejudiced he was against people from Nazareth, but Jesus wanted to get to the man’s heart, so He shared only good things with Nathanael. However, it was enough for Nathanael to recognize that Jesus was the Son of God. Friends, I believe that when Jesus calls us unto Himself, it is much like the day that He hung on the cross. For at that time He gave in to the will of the Father, instead of using His divine power to disappear from the scene. Further, He did all that for those who loved Him and for those who hated Him at the time. So if Jesus did all that at Calvary, don’t you know that in the case of your sin, and your evil condition, He sees you just where you’re at; He hears everything you are saying or thinking; but He knows your name and calls you to Himself anyway. Nathanael quickly recognized Jesus as the true Son of God. Will you also be open to His call today, and accept His invitation on your life? We’re not sure when the end will come, but we are told to be ready in case it’s today. So let me implore you to procrastinate no longer. No need to wait for your church’s weekend services, today might be the day, so read my Footnote and follow the suggestions for getting with someone today to help you, or pray with you.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, You are my rock and my salvation and in You I place my trust. Thank You for calling me to Yourself many years ago. Being reminded of what You did for Nathanael, has reminded me to bring my unsaved family and friends before You yet again today. Please Lord, send a ‘Philip’ to them today who will open the door for them to accept You as Lord and Savior. Please use me, if necessary. Lord You are good, and I thank You for being my Savior, and a Savior who is still interested in the lost. I pray that many will come to know You even today, AMEN!

May I encourage you to get your spiritual ‘Nuggets’ to start your day off right? Pretty amazing that our awesome God would consider feeding even us with His Word! May I encourage you to read the whole devotional, and look for a blessing, friend!………

Today’s Bible Reference: Hosea 13:4-6
Today’s Bible Text: 4 “I alone am God, your Lord, and have been ever since I brought you out from Egypt. You have no God but me, for there is no other Savior. 5 I took care of you in the wilderness, in that dry and thirsty land. 6 But when you had eaten and were satisfied, then you became proud and forgot me.
The Bible Translation: The Living Bible (TLB)

My Take Away: Some may have overlooked the devotional today because they may have thought that the title was extremely elementary. Friends, just as God took the Israelites back in their minds to their days of slavery in Egypt, and back to the days they were totally dependent on Him in the wilderness, I believe that He is also desiring of us to reflect on the times that we felt closest to Him, and the times that we felt ‘on top of the world’, because we were convinced of the powerful hand of God working very intimately in our lives. Although thousands of years after this message by Hosea, I would dare say that we have not changed a whole lot. Just look around at all that we have allowed to take priority in our lives. After 9-11 our churches were filled, because we needed the Lord to love on us, comfort us, protect us from further disaster and give us peace that we could go on living. This happens ever week as families deal with cancer, or a death in the family, or a financial disaster, or a lot of other things where we may feel out of control, lost and very inadequate. At times like this we shift our priorities to attending church, prayer meetings and many other things that we feel will bring us into God’s favor. But friends, don’t we become very much like the Israelites, where we need reminding from time to time, that the same God that saw us through our rough times, is the same God available to us today, and will help us through the minute challenges of our day? We need not wait for the BIG events to turn to God, for He is our Savior and Lord, and would very much like to be a part of our day and our decisions – yes, even at work, or at play. As we remember God in these everyday events, we build our confidence in knowing that He is also the One we can turn to when life seems so out of control and situations seem so impossible to us. Friends, He is our God – period! Let’s trust Him with everything in our lives – always!

Prayer: Lord, I believe that each of us can reflect on times in our lives that we were desperate for Your wisdom, healing, love and awesome power. Please help us to not only  worship You for who You are today, but for all that You have done for us in the past. May we learn to never look at ‘no’ answers to our prayers as unanswered prayer. We ask because we need Your direction, so please help us to humbly accept ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ answers and may we always recognize Your voice as You speak to us. Yes, You are our God and our Redeemer, may we not only reflect on this daily, but may our lives show evidence of having been with You each day. I ask these things in the name of Jesus, the Living, Loving, All-powerful, All-knowing Savior of this world, AMEN!
