Romans 8 | The Ultimate Proof That God Is for Us

DATE POSTED: Monday, November 2, 2026, and I was blessed to be at Mariposa Apartments, San Marcos, TX when God inspired me to prepare this devotional. Please visit NuggetsFromGodsWord.org to find and read all episodes shared over the years.

SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:31-32 ~ 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

DEVOTIONAL: Many people look at the Word of God and see only a list of restrictions—commands of what not to do and warnings of the repercussions that follow disobedience. And while the early chapters of Romans certainly confront our sin, the Apostle Paul now lifts our eyes to breathtaking heights, drawing our attention to the overwhelming goodness given to every believer in Jesus Christ.

When we place our faith in Christ, our eyes are opened to His relentless love. Paul poses a staggering rhetorical question: “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” To grasp the weight of this, Paul anchors his argument in the ultimate proof of God’s devotion: He did not even spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all.

Think about that logic for a moment. If the Creator of the universe went to the ultimate length of sacrificing His Son for our redemption, how could He possibly withhold anything else we truly need?

Consider the scope of our God:

  • Before the world began, God was here.
  • Today, because He faithfully causes the sun to rise and sustains the earth, we know God is here.
  • For all eternity, because Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, we know God will be ever present with us in heaven.

In response to Paul’s question, our only proper posture is to rejoice and be glad in all that God was, is, and ever shall be! Are you living in the unshakable hope of this truth today? God has an eternal, loving plan for those who have accepted His Son as Lord and Savior. If that identifies you, you can walk through every trial with absolute confidence. Rejoice and be glad, my friend!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE: No matter how much someone tells you about the goodness of God, it is only through a personal, intimate relationship with Him that you truly experience it. Allow me to encourage you to reflect on your Father’s goodness today. Celebrate Him through praise, worship, adoration, and thanksgiving—and share that unfailing love with someone who needs it. The world offers only superficial affection, but as children of God, we have access to His steadfast love every single day.

PRAYER:Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible, unearned truth that You are for us. When trials surround us and the world feels uncertain, help us to look to the cross—the ultimate proof that You love us and will faithfully provide for us. Fill our hearts with joy, steady our faith, and give us opportunities to share Your radiant love with those around us today. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
