Scripture: 2 Kings 18.
(What is God saying here?)
2 Kings 18:5-7 (NLT)
5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before or after his time.
6 He remained faithful to the Lord in everything, and he carefully obeyed all the commands the Lord had given Moses.
7 So the Lord was with him, and Hezekiah was successful in everything he did. He revolted against the king of Assyria and refused to pay him tribute.
(How Can I apply what God is saying here to my circumstances today?)
As we travel through this world and face the many challenges that come our way, won’t it be worth it all if upon our passing the words spoken of King Hezekiah could also be spoken of us? Wow, what a tribute! In the next 2 chapters we could also read how challenging it was for Hezekiah to maintain this Godly position, for he was challenged on many fronts. It made me reflect on the excuses that we sometimes give today: “yes, but you don’t know all that I go through in a day” or ” walk in my shoes and see if you could do it any better”! Although Hezekiah listened to the prophet Isaiah he still had a choice where he could have decided to cave in and allow defeat, but no, this king was solid in his faith. He had such a relationship with his God that he knew everything would be OK if he followed everything God told him. Friend, this is the same God that we serve today! The same power; the same love for us that He would not allow evil to destroy us; the same wisdom that He would guide us to safety and ultimate protection from those that persecute us. With God on our side, who can be against us? Let’s remain faithful to the Rock of our salvation, the King of all kings, our Master and Lord Jesus Christ!
(With God’s help, what am I going to do differently today because He said it?)
Lord, I pray that You will grant me the strength and the peace and the determination to follow You in every aspect of my life. I pray that I can enter every day, every challenge, every decision with a bold dependence on You. I am convinced that You love me more than anything that I could ever witness here on this earth. I believe that You have gone to prepare a home for me where I will celebrate eternally with You. Please help me in my daily walk of life to live like Hezekiah did, in full faith and trust in the name of the Lord, allowing You to guide me safely through circumstances that seem totally impossible to me, but yet all fitting within Your ultimate plan. May Your rule be evident in me, through me and around me today as I face a world that has grown so cold to You. Thank You for loving me so much that You gave!
