Scripture: Psalm 71.
(What is God saying here?)
Psalm 71:5-8 (NLT)
5 O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O LORD, from childhood.
6 Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!
7 My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.
8 That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.
(How Can I apply what God is saying here to my circumstances today?)
As in the case of David, our lives are filled with God’s blessings all the way back to our birth, but especially can be brought to remembrance back to the time of our childhood. It is so unfortunate that we place so much emphasis on the challenging times and the times when things didn’t go just the way we wanted. If only we can stop and look for the ways that God brought us through those challenging times, and think more on the fact that 99% (or better) of our lives have been filled with the awesome blessings of God and happy times! If we concentrated on the blessings more, we would tend to imitate Jesus more, or at least be more in line with verses 7 and 8. Friends, let’s look for and concentrate on the ‘blessings’ today. Remember, Our Hope is in You Lord!
(With God’s help, what am I going to do differently today because He said it?)
Father, it is so easy for us to get caught up in the drama of every day trials, failures and challenges. Please help Your children, especially this child, to be more focused on the ‘BLESSINGS’ that You shower on me from the very moment that my eyes are opened each day, for it is You that I place my hope and trust in dear Lord. You are my Rock, my Salvation, my Healer, my Deliverer, my Savior, my Redeemer, my King and everlasting God. Thank You for loving me today!
