TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
I would love for you to read today’s Scripture in your own personal Bible!

Romans 4:13-15 (NLT) ¹³ Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith. ¹⁴ If God’s promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless. ¹⁵ For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!)

APPLICATION – as inspired by the Holy Spirit
I hope you’ve taken a moment to read the verses referenced above, as they’ll help you better grasp the context of this devotional.

Faith is best described as trusting God to do exactly what He has promised and living with the confident assurance that He will fulfill His Word. Hebrews 11 reminds us that faith gives substance to our hope and confidence in things we cannot yet see. Through faith, we understand that God created all things and continues to carry out His perfect plan according to His will.

Abraham serves as one of Scripture’s greatest examples of faith. God made extraordinary promises to him, promises that seemed impossible from a human perspective. Yet Abraham believed God. Because of that faith, God declared him righteous. His standing before God was not earned through law-keeping or personal achievement but through trusting the God who always keeps His promises.

Paul emphasized this truth because many Jews of his day continued to place their confidence in the Law given through Moses. They viewed obedience to the Law as the pathway to acceptance with God. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul showed that God’s promise to Abraham came long before the Law was given. If righteousness could be earned through keeping the Law, faith would be unnecessary and God’s promise would lose its meaning. Instead, God established that a right relationship with Him comes through faith.

This truth remains just as relevant today. We serve the same God that Abraham trusted and the same God whom Paul preached after his encounter with Christ on the Damascus Road. He has not changed. He is still powerful, still faithful, and still working in the lives of those who trust Him. Through faith in Jesus Christ, believers can face each day with confidence, knowing that God guides, protects, strengthens, and preserves His children until the day He welcomes them home.

Perhaps you are reading this today and struggling to believe. You may wonder how anyone can place complete trust in a Savior they cannot physically see. Yet faith is exercised every day in ordinary ways. The last time you sat in a chair, you trusted it would support your weight. When you hear the siren of an approaching emergency vehicle, you believe it is coming even before you see it. Faith itself is not foreign to any of us.

So, what keeps a person from believing the gospel? Scripture gives us the answer. Paul wrote:

“If the Good News we preach is hidden to anyone, it is hidden from the one who is on the road to eternal death. Satan, who is the god of this evil world, has made him blind, unable to see the glorious light of the Gospel…” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

The enemy seeks to blind people to the truth of Christ, but God’s Word shines light into darkened hearts. As the gospel is proclaimed, God opens eyes, softens hearts, and draws sinners to Himself.

Today’s Challenge

Like Abraham, will you believe God and trust His promises?

Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ have the assurance of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. But those who choose to remain separated from God will face eternal judgment. There is no middle ground.

If you have never trusted Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day to come to Him. Admit your sin, repent before God, and place your faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. He is faithful to forgive, faithful to save, and faithful to keep all who come to Him close to His side. Do not delay. The invitation is before you. Make it today, dear one!

PRAYER
Father, thank You for showing us through Abraham that a right relationship with You comes by faith and not by our own efforts. Help us to trust Your promises completely and to walk each day with confidence in Your faithfulness. Open the eyes of those who have not yet believed in Your Son, Jesus Christ, and remove every obstacle that keeps them from receiving the truth of the gospel. Strengthen our faith, deepen our trust, and help us live as people who know that Your Word is true. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
