Then You Will Know That I Am Lord

Such a familiar story, but it seems like we only hear about the plagues and all the bad things that came to the Egyptians. But God opened my eyes to a key point in this whole story, and it made me personally look back over time to remember how God revealed Himself to me in miraculous ways, refreshing my mind to once again realize that He indeed is Lord of all. Think of the same experience in your life as we meditate on the Word today together.

WRITTEN AT: Okeechobee, FL

BIBLE REFERENCE: Exodus 10:1-2
TRANSLATION: Contemporary English Version (CEV)

BIBLE TEXT:  The Lord said to Moses: Go back to the king.[a] I have made him and his officials stubborn, so that I could work these miracles. I did this because I want you to tell your children and your grandchildren about my miracles and about my harsh treatment of the Egyptians. Then all of you will know that I am the Lord.

OBSERVATION: Such a familiar story, but it seems like we only hear about the plagues and all the bad things that came to the Egyptians. But God opened my eyes to a key point in this whole story, and it made me personally look back over time to remember how God revealed Himself to me in miraculous ways, refreshing my mind to once again realize that He indeed is Lord of all. Think of the same experience in your life as we meditate on the Word today together.

APPLICATION: About 3-6 months before my wife and I moved to the United States, I sat down to break the news to my parents. My dad was visibly upset and said just a few words: ‘Now that your mom and I are getting older, you are really moving further away from us?’. Those words stung like a bee, but I was convinced that God had heard our prayer for direction in the move, so I felt like He had a plan in place for us. Within 8 months of assuming residency in the USA, I received word that my dad was not well, and my siblings were not convinced that doctors had properly diagnosed his problem, nor treating him with a prescription that would help him. In all of God’s wisdom, and in His awesome power working in me, I was able to get an uninsured foreigner into a local doctor. Into a prime hospital, have a heart stint placed, treated for the loss a kidney due to blood clots and half of his huge medical bill satisfied by a local hospital fund. Weeks after the hospital stay, my dad gave a loud sigh and told me that ‘Now I understand what God was doing in getting you over here’. Based on our Scripture for today, I believe my dad was saying ‘I have again been reminded that Jesus is Lord’. Friends, I believe that as we read through the Word of God, we must remember that it is not a fairy tale, for the same God who did miraculous things like illustrated in our Scripture today, is the same God who works in our lives today. The reason He does these things is made clear to us in our Scripture: He wants us, and our children, to know that, or be reminded that, He is Lord! He is not a fairy tale that performs miracles on everyone else except us. If you have accepted Him as Lord of your life, then you must be reminded that He is Lord of everything in your life; He will take care of you; He will guide and protect you; and He is preparing a place for us in Heaven where we will be victoriously positioned with Him! He is Lord, dear friend, and He has a plan for each of us. Know Him today dear friend, and be ready to watch His plan unfold in your life, for His glory!

PRAYER: I am reminded of the words of an old hymn: ‘Oh what a wonder it is that Jesus loves even me’. I thank You Lord for creating me in Your image, being a constant part of my life over the years, and for promising a place called Heaven where all believers will spend eternity with You and the Father. The Egyptians used and abused the Egyptian people living in their country, but I believe that You would have freely forgiven them if either plague had brought them to their knees in pleading forgiveness of You. We have much to read and share with others about Your miraculous works in Bible days. But Lord, I know that You are still very much alive and actively working in the lives of Your children today, so please help us to share these blessings with others – especially our children, so that they may know You and believe in You for their salvation. Lord, we believe You are Lord. Please help us to open our hearts to allowing You to display Yourself through us each day. AMEN!

It’s Time To Go!

In the first 6 verses, time is spent introducing the legitimacy of how John became authorized to share these revelations with us. It is obvious that these words came from God, through Jesus, to John. It is also obvious that our soon coming God will be for ALL people that ever existed and who exist at the time of His coming. No need for an earthly judge to say who His coming applies to, or don’t apply to. Seeing that this will apply to all reading this devotional, it is really important that we meditate on this for just a while today.

Bible Reference: Revelation 1:7
Translation: Amplified Bible (AMP)

Bible Text: Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes (nations) of the earth will mourn over Him [realizing their sin and guilt, and anticipating the coming wrath]. [kSo it is to be. Amen.

It is obvious that these words came from God, through Jesus, to John. It is also obvious that our soon coming God will be for ALL people that ever existed and who exist at the time of His coming. APPLICATION: At an airport, a plane will leave only with those ticketed for that flight, regardless of how many travelers are in the airport. Unlike the airport scenario, the God who created us, also provided an alternative to the flight ticket, by sending His only Son as our means of getting from earth to heaven. For those who have accepted the  gift of God’s Son, we will have a much better outlook than most, on the day that the whole world looks up and sees Jesus bursting through the clouds. Notice a few things about this truth from the very beginning of the book of Revelation: (1) Airline flights are contingent on so many things, like weather; availability of fuel; an operational airport in which to pick up its passengers, etc. However, in our verses today, we are told that Jesus IS COMING – period. In other words, there is nothing that will stop Him (praise the name of Jesus!); (2) ‘Everyone’ will see Jesus when He comes for us. Stop to think that also includes the person that you tried to witness to, and they thought you were from another planet! Also the person that follows a cult, and absolutely scorns the name of our Jesus; (3) Notice that John was told that the glorious return of Jesus will not be a time of rejoicing by all who see Him coming back to earth. My mind went on to think of what it would be like for any of us to hear of our national leader coming to our town. Some will protest, and some will rejoice and party. The Bible says that it will be much the same when Jesus returns. Some of us will rejoice endlessly that our Savior has finally come to take us home – that’s the group I will be in, because I have accepted the Gift of God’s Son – the only One, the only thing that opens the doors of heaven for an earthly sinner to claim righteousness and redemption of sin. However friends, the Bible says that some will be extremely sad, because they will finally realize that their rejection of Jesus Christ, and their disbelief in the one true God, was a BIG mistake. But the huge warning for all that may happen across this devotional today, is that, when that day occurs – and it could be today, tomorrow or even next week, but on that day, it will be a point of no turning back, or changing of minds, for it will be the day of judgment. A day set aside to judge the entire population of the world. Only you will know the verdict that will be passed down to you by God, friend. No attorney will help convince the Judge, for He already knows every little detail about every one of His creation, including the condition of our heart and to whom we belong. I’m ready to go friend, are you?

PRAYER: Come Lord Jesus come! Thank You Lord for saving my soul, thank You Lord for making me whole, thank You Lord for giving to me Thy great salvation so rich and free! For Your love, forgiveness, and eternal provisions, I give You sincere thanks dear Lord. Please be an instrument of love in the hearts and lives of all who will read this devotional today. May they be inclined to get into Your Word and learn more about their Creator and their heavenly King. Lord, may no one who is reminded of Your awesome grace be in the sad, weeping crowd on the day who will look towards heaven and see You coming in the clouds. Oh Lord of heaven, may the hearts of the unsaved be softened today and drawn to You, so that they may joyously await Your return. AMEN!

Answers to Life’s Dilemmas

Clicking on the Scripture reference above will give you all of the verses in chapter 6. You will see that before David went into telling his readers what they should do, he shared his own personal experience. David knew from first hand experience that a life fully surrendered to God is one that rests peacefully in the arms of Jesus, blessed by, and enjoying His love and protection both here in this life and in the next.

From:

Psalm 32:6-8 (TLB)

Text:

Now I say that each believer should confess his sins to God when he is aware of them, while there is time to be forgiven. Judgment will not touch him if he does.

You are my hiding place from every storm of life; you even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.

OBSERVATION:
Clicking on the Scripture reference above will give you all of the verses in chapter 6. You will see that before David went into telling his readers what they should do, he shared his own personal experience. David knew from first hand experience that a life fully surrendered to God is one that rests peacefully in the arms of Jesus, blessed by, and enjoying His love and protection both here in this life and in the next.
APPLICATION:
The words of many preachers ring in our ears, “if ever we needed a Savior like the one described by David, it is now”. I believe we hear those words and quickly brush them off our shoulders convinced that they are meant for the person behind us or besides us, because of all the issues they currently have. However, I have also heard saints of God rejoice in the fact that they are ever so thankful that they had a loving and caring God by their side as they went through various aspects of life that might otherwise have taken some people under. Friends, because of my relationship with my Savior, I can safely say that it is well with my soul. My sins have been forgiven, and I am not only a child of the King of all kings, but He has given to me His very own Protector and Guide, through the Holy Spirit that has taken up residence within me. I am destined for a perfect place with a perfect God, and regardless of anything that might come my way here on this earth, nothing can change my eternal destination nor my Master and Lord. With that kind of peace and eternal security, I am constantly concerned for those in my family and circle of friends who have decided to do this life on their own. I can therefore identify with David in verse 6. For I too am concerned about all that are outside of the fold, without hope, without security and without relationship with the Savior of the world.  Friends, know God and be convinced about who’s in charge of your life today and throughout eternity. Without God, your suffering and complexities of life are only beginning, for there is no mercy, no love and nothing to look forward to under Satan’s control.
PRAYER:
Thank You Father for making provisions for us to find peace in this world through Your Son Jesus. Thank You also for the bright hope that we have in tomorrow when we have a personal relationship with Your Son. Please touch the hardened hearts of family and friends who have yet to accept You as their Savior and Lord. Please don’t give up on them for, like David, it is my desire to see them overcome the tug of Satan on their lives and to see them give total control to You. Lord, please find ways to once again speak to them today. May this be the day of salvation for all in need of You, who will read this and need the hope of eternity. May they find peace in knowing You, AMEN!

My Protector

David had ‘been there and done that’, as we would say today, when speaking from personal experience. When sharing this gained experience with others, as David did in this Psalm, we help them to gain confidence to trust God with the circumstances that they are facing. I wonder how well we are doing with that?

From:

Psalm 27:1 (Voice)

Text:

The Eternal is my light amidst my darkness
and my rescue in times of trouble.
    So whom shall I fear?
He surrounds me with a fortress of protection.
So nothing should cause me alarm.
OBSERVATION:
David had ‘been there and done that’, as we would say today, when speaking from personal experience. When sharing this gained experience with others, as David did in this Psalm, we help them to gain confidence to trust God with the circumstances that they are facing. I wonder how well we are doing with that?
APPLICATION:
When whining and complaining about every little thing that don’t go our way, it is impossible to share a sense of confidence with a friend about how ‘good’ God is to you! For if God truly is ‘good’ to you, He will stop you from traveling a path where He knows that trouble lies ahead for you, or where temptation might be too great for you to handle. Friends, there are stories in our Book of Instruction (the Bible) that tells us of battles that God won without His led army ever raising their swords. Stories where earthly leaders went to battle with numbers they felt necessary to fight an army, and God ordered a reduction by 97% because He knew that He could be more effective than the full army of men. There are stories where His ministering saints were simply unchained during the night without ever calling for bolt cutters or hacksaws. Of course there are multitudes of other miracles told in the Word of God, so why should we lack the faith to trust in this awesome God with our situations today? Friends, if God is for us, who can you ever think of, that could be against us? Who can be more powerful? Who will love you and look our for your best interest, like He would? Do you know Him friend? It is repeated time and time again in the Bible, that God will take care of His own, and since He is totally honest, He will also bring punishment to those who have chosen to disregard Him and not accept Him as Lord. You see, it’s like an open book test. You know what the results will be, so it is entirely up to you to choose which results are dished out to you. Accepting Jesus as Lord, results in eternal life with Jesus and an eternity in Heaven with He and the Father (God). Ignoring the call of God on your life, will result in eternity with Satan and his deceiving legion. One brings you the confidence that David shared in our Psalm today, while the other gives you a deep sense of hopelessness that our world deals with today. With the end result in mind, the choice is yours dear friend. My wish is that I will see you in glory. I pray that you will make that decision today, while you still have breath to invite Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus I believe that presented with the facts again today, many may be at a crossroads in their life where they need to make a decision about their eternity. The decision seems simple/obvious to me and very easy to make, however, I know that Satan will be doing everything to keep my family, friends and readers from leaving his evil domain. With the same power that You brought Lazarus back to life, and that put You back together after Your death and burial, I pray that You will use Your awesome power to touch the lives of those that mentioned above, and convince them of their need for the Savior. Lord, please tender their hardened hearts once again today. May this be the day of salvation for many today, is my humble and desperate plea, AMEN!
